Spring Ball

Two weeks of sports overlap followed by a Spring Break is the answer to why I have not been blogging.
This is Jacksons first season with kid pitch. I have to say that so far, so good. We have a very exciting team and Jackson being the youngest, is holding his own. He got hit in the shoulder by the pitcher first game and couldn't take a base because it nicked his bat behind his shoulder. This has been a very fun season!

Jackson finished up basketball season and had a party at his coaches house that moved in right behind us that weekend. I have to say, I am not a fan of the bobble head trophies!!

Larson playing T-ball: what do I say.
He is focused, having fun, youngest on his team also. Got to love the early March birthday for baseball seasons. He talks his coaches ears off. Loves to hit more than the outfield. He has managed a pretty good cartwheel out in center field during the game. The funniest position so far would be catcher. In T-ball, this position does nothing but you were not going to tell Larson that. He kept getting on his knees right behind the plate and they would have to move him back each time. He kept saying "pitcher pitch, batter bat" which only the coaches should be saying that. He asked coach when he was going to hit and turns around to me and takes his helmet off to ask why are they not throwing it to me? Larson has not been in catchers position since.

Larsons 5th Birthday

Larson Turns 5
Part One

Larsons Pirate party was a success but not without its challenges. Two big things that I did not have on the days agenda: Me sick with the flu and hurricane gust winds. It did not go as I had perfectly visioned many times in my mind but I wont dwell on that part. I'll just talk about all the fun that was had.
Walk the Plank

Decorations that were hanging on for dear life against the wind

the kids got to paint their own pirate flags

There were treasure trunks, swords, hats, eye patches, tattoos, and telescopes for all the lil' buccaneers.

Just a couple of minutes before the party started and Mom not doing so well, I asked Larson if he would mind if I did not get dressed like a pirate? Well, you can tell what his answer was!

Take a Ride on a Tropical Slide

Digging for Treasure

The kids ran from spot to spot following their own treasure maps. Larson had to dig up the last treasure. Oh, I think they all had fun with this one!

Captain Chris and Keena

Littlest Buccaneer Logan

Pin the Flag on the Pirate Ship

The Birthday Cake and....

Ice Cream

Pinata Time at the Roberts Cove

Larson Turns 5
Part Two

Its official:
March2, 2009
He's 5
Larson you are beaming in confidence no matter what you do. You have a never ending amount of energy. You use the most impeccable manners ever and make us laugh every day!
Birthday Celebration at Montessori
I have always loved the way that they celebrate birthdays in Montessori. We bring in a picture of Larson for each year that he has lived. The teacher talks about him year by year to the class. For each year, Larson takes the globe and walks around the sun in the middle representing one full rotation of the sun marking each year. The kids sing a song as he walks. Then at the end he gets to blow out the "sun". Then Larson got to serve a brownie to each classmate. As he sat the brownie down at every place setting he would say, "white powder on top" He repeated that every time! Finally, one kid asked, Can we eat powder?
Larson was so happy and proud that this was his day that he could share Mom, Dad, and Logan with his class.
Larson Turns Five
Part Three

He wore his crown to practice and gave Tootsie Pops to his team mates after. They practiced their first little scrimmage and when Larson would get the ball he would not throw it to the base but rather run it there. Hey, in our front yard when we play, we don't have a first baseman, you have to run it there yourself. The coach would tell Larson that was a great stop and Larson would say "I Know that!!" Oh the humility the kid must learn. We had a lesson on how to take a compliment. You have to love T-ball!

Larson chose pizza for his birthday dinner. He helped make a pirate cupcake tower. Opening presents from family was the last order of the day. The kid got allot of LOOT!!!!!

You only turn 5 once and this was a blowout! Larson we loved celebrating your 5th birthday with you.

Larsons First T-ball Practice....

His Life is Complete!

It hard to be the little brother and not get to do some things. The day has finally arrived where he gets to be on his very own baseball team. He was pretty focused even with all of his excitement. I didn't realize how young he would be on the team. There is one kid just turning 5 like Larson but he sure is small compared to the 6 year olds and Larson is not that small of a kid. I cant wait to watch games this season.
